Cheap Kindle 3
The cheapest Kindle has just got cheaper. Amazon have released a version called Kindle with special offers. Functionally this is almost identical to the regular Kindle 3 Wi-Fi only model. The one difference that it has is that on the screen saver page, when the Kindle is turned off, it will display special offers. These will be things like telling you that you can get a discount on Amazon gift vouchers, etc.
Of course, the idea here is that by selling a cheaper Kindle hand held reader, Amazon will be able to sell more products to users of this device. If you are interested in customizing your Kindle reader then unfortunately you cannot change the screen savers with this discount version.
However, if you are looking for the cheapest way to start reading with the Amazon Kindle, this model might be worth a closer look.
I was actually reading a newspaper article the other day that was suggesting it would make financial sense for Amazon to actually give the Kindle 4 reader away FREE when it comes out. This may well make business sense, but unfortunately, I don’t see it happening.
